The paradigm shift came for me during one parent teacher conference when my daughter, Samantha, was in first grade. Her teacher said she was not focusing in school, she wasn’t performing up to her capabilities and by the time it was the afternoon, she was so tired she many times had to lay her head down on her desk.
First...a bit about me:
I have been in sales and marketing for over 20 years…Have been on the top five leader board with all of the companies I have ever partnered with and have been awarded Sales Representative of the Year time and time again. I have been part owner of three privately owned and run restaurants and even sold luxury cars to foreign diplomats in Brussels while living in Belgium for three years.
You may be asking yourself why, if I was making good money, (and I was) did I leave the comfort of the corporate world? Why did I leave the food and services industry that I loved so much? I’ll tell you why!! I was literally killing myself and taking my family down with me. I was one of those people who were trading their time for the dollars. I was working 14-16 hours a day, weekends, never seeing my daughter, never seeing my husband and when I was with them physically, so many times I wasn’t with them mentally.
This conference hit me like a blow from a heavy weight boxer to my stomach and it was then I knew I had to change something and that something was me being an absentee mom. While it took a bit longer than I would have like...I was finally able to quit my corporate sales career forever and now fast forward to the present….
Sam is currently in 5th grade, she loves and thrives in school, I am happier than I have ever been, more successful than I have ever thought possible and making money most people only dream about. And yes if you are wondering, my husband is thrilled about the changes in our life because of my business as well!!!
